week 13

The show and final look of the wearable structure.

week 12

CLOsE DeTaiL anD sKetch bOOk devElopment.

looking closely at the changes i have made to the structure. and to my sketchbook work showing the development of design and inspiration. looking closely you can see the patch work which has been added and the combination of the two projects that have been taking place in the studio over the weeks. i wanted to combined the two as i knew they would mix well together and bring more to the structure.

week 11

Worinking in my sketch book to find more design based ways of the garment.

dress above by Malouse Bastiaan
Continuing with the wearable structure, now i have come up with an initial silhouette for the structure, today i have been sewing it up on the sewing machine to be worn as it was pined together before. The whole day was mainly in the sewing room sewing the garments body together but at the same time leaving what i thought could do with some editing. i have been researching on how to manipulate the fabric.

WEEK 10

Continuing on the wearable structure and help from all the inspiration i have collected, the real structure begins. i have decided to stick with the fabrics i have been using in previous lesson to finalize my garment. Adding bits and taking away pieces to come up with the right look. these images are just to show what i have been getting up to with exploring the matching additional structure and image to the final garment.

Week 9 Pleats

Todays a day of illness for me and very sad because im missing out on an amazing pleat workshop, but this is me catching up and seeing everyonre elses work to understand how to do the pleating my self.

I took the time to research into pleats and find some creative designers work and i came across these:
The Cabbage chair done by Nendo a designer who has worked alongside issey miayke to come up with pleated paper to create a eco friendly chair.

ALSO-

Pleats-Pleats is a sofa designed by Daniel Hedner from Imaginary Office. Clothed polyurethane foam is woven around a white powder coated steel pipe frame.

This is an interesting way of pleating fabrics.

week 8 BarBican 30 YeARS OF Japanese Fashion

Had NiCe visit to tHe barbican and got some sneaky picture s of designers work that inspired me. there were many amazing pieces, loved to see issey miyakes work in person but the two name which stuck with me were Junya Watanabe and rei Kawaubo.
Work by Junya Watanabe a japanese designer who worked for Comme des Garçons for eight years designs mens and women's wear till this very day, has a most intriguing mind when it come to fashion creating what only can come to his creative explanation of fashion. i find he goes in depth with his work.

Jun Takahashi is the designer of the black patch work dress another interesting piece to the eye.

The designs blow by Rei kawakubo were the main inspiration to my work got me thinking about the fit to the body and also about the patchwork in the wearable structure.

week 7

Looking close at the major detail of the structure instead of the whole silhouette today.

playing with the silhouette to see what best results come from it. still not wquite what im looking for a bit of a mess on the stand, too much of the same colored fabric hides the folds.

Working back on the chair and looking closely at detail and the silhouette of the wearable structure. draping the fabric works really well with this particular fabric making interesting fold lines.

Carrying on working with the army jacket, i have been working on a new structure.

From the side

The back
Close detail of gathering.

Week 6

Patch work
Using a vintage army jacket and retreating it using the silhouette of a chair and placing the remade garment on to the mannequin, to come up with an design that you would not create on a 2d design.

One of the design that i came out with in week 5
by this time, i have started to take the jacket apart and rework it onto a chair. i chose to start draping as it gives out a large amount of detail to a garment.
Great detail on the inside pockets.
What the jacket looked like on the inside before it was taken part.
The jacket was made in the 60s. Has a nice amount of detailed lining inside which gives more fabric to recreate the jacket into something new.

2D pattern From a 3D Structure.

I have cut a Piece of the 3D structure and made it into a 2D pattern.
Images to come soon

Week 5

These are images from working on a mannequin using the stiff 3D structure from the chair, turing it into a garment, altogether there are around 10-11 different looks. just from moving around the structure on the body.
Moving around the 3D Structure to create differtent garment shapes.

The mutton cloth make a nice movement for a unique garment.

The tangled look form when it was form under the chair brings a huge amount of detail to these now structured garment
The news paper give it an edge, put a bit of fun and even more 3D motion in the design and it wasn't even my idea, i had a helping hand from andrea

Week 4

from underneath the chair is very tangled which adds great detail. this is how i left the chair to dry and form its stiff 3D shape for next weeks work.
The chair with the mutton cloth and tights, shaped to a very simple pattern from the side.
Week four was interesting, using tights and mutton cloth soaked in PVA glue and shaped around a chair with help of cling film and pins. This was my starting point of the whole project.
A chair wrapped in cling film.

Week 3

This is the outcome in a larger scale on the Body, it creates a graphic detail of some future shoulders pads, that may come to mind in the near future. i thinks is so creative to think outside the box of fashion, when you start a new theme of a design and not have a surprising outcome.

The final out come of my retry on rule based art,
this one i was happy with. it has much more structure
and interest to the pattern.
This is the 2D pattern of my final 3D pattern.

This time i statred with a triangle and my rules were- Add a trangle
- Remove a square
- Insert a Fold line
